How to read these project case studies

Each case study follows the same structure so you can compare decisions rather than marketing claims.

Every greenhouse project starts from a commercial objective, not a product. A retail supply contract, an export price window and a premium fresh segment each lead to a different structure, different climate equipment and a different capital budget — even for the same crop. Each case study therefore opens with the customer objective and the site constraints before any technology is mentioned.

The challenge section lists the constraints that ruled options out. These are the details that decide a specification: design snow load, summer wet-bulb temperature, feed water sodium, heating season length, pest pressure from neighbouring farms. When a greenhouse underperforms, it is almost always because one of these was not checked before the structure was ordered.

The technology selection table then records what was chosen and why. Reading the reason column across several projects is the fastest way to understand why two greenhouses that look similar can differ by a factor of five in capital cost per square metre.

Are these greenhouse projects built by Aegis?

Aegis is an independent greenhouse solution provider, not a manufacturer. On each project we prepared the technical specification, ran supplier selection, normalised quotations and coordinated engineering, logistics and installation supervision on the client’s behalf. Structures and equipment were supplied by selected specialist manufacturers.

What size of commercial greenhouse project do you support?

Our project experience spans roughly 5,000 m² to more than 80,000 m². Below about 5,000 m² the engineering coordination effort is usually hard to justify commercially, and above 10 ha we plan the development in phases with shared infrastructure sized for the final area.

Can you share references for a specific country or crop?

How long does a commercial greenhouse project take?

For a typical single-phase project, allow roughly two to four months for feasibility and specification, two to four months for supply and shipping, and two to five months for installation and commissioning, depending on greenhouse type, area and site access.
