Glass is justified when light is the limiting production factor or when the market pays for consistent year-round quality. In low-light winters, each percent of extra transmission converts directly into yield, which shortens payback despite the higher capital cost.
Glass type, gutter height, screen package and ventilation area have more impact on results than the frame brand. Diffuse glass improves crop uniformity in high-radiation regions, while double glazing lowers heating demand in cold climates at the cost of some transmission.

Fully equipped commercial glass greenhouses typically range from USD 90 to USD 220 per square metre depending on climate systems, automation level, region and logistics. Structure and glazing alone are usually 35 to 45 percent of that total.
In high-radiation regions and for high-wire crops, diffuse glass improves light distribution into the canopy and usually returns its premium through higher yield and better fruit quality. In low-radiation climates the benefit is smaller.
