Fully equipped multi span film greenhouses typically cost 40 to 60 percent less per square metre than comparable glass facilities, though film replacement and lower winter yields must be included in a like-for-like comparison.
Quality multi-layer horticultural film lasts 4 to 6 years depending on UV load, installation quality and chemical exposure. Replacement cost and downtime should be built into the operating budget from day one.
